Religious Education
At Bridgeway Federation, Religious Education is taught in line with the South Gloucestershire SACRE agreed syllabus. Through our RE curriculum, pupils in Key Stages 1 and 2 learn about a range of religions and non-religious worldviews, helping them to develop understanding, respect and curiosity about the beliefs and practices of others in our diverse and ever-changing world. Lessons are taught in engaging and thoughtful ways, encouraging pupils to ask questions, reflect deeply and share ideas through discussion and written work. Opportunities for purposeful thinking and reflection are carefully planned to support deeper learning. As pupils progress, they build a wider picture of the world around them, make meaningful links with the local and wider community, and develop an understanding of how people worship and celebrate in ways that may be different from their own experiences.
Collective Worship
The Headteacher is responsible (under the School Standards and Framework Act 1998) for arranging the daily collective worship after consulting with the governing body. This states that daily collective worship must be wholly or mainly of a broadly Christian character. At Bridgeway Federation we also hold assemblies that reflect the traditions Christianity and of other religions that are represented in the school and the wider community.
Right to Withdraw
Parents and carers have a right to withdraw their child from all or some of the RE curriculum. If you are considering doing this please get in touch with the school office and book an appointment with a member of the Senior Leadership Team to discuss.
